T HE Book of Common Prayer, so familiar to English Churchmen, is already in its fourth edition. It was first published inearly in the reign of Edward VI, though it was a new book only in the sense of being a new arrangement and simplification, in the English language, of the services which had been held for many centuries in our land.

This book came recommended as a "good way into developing my prayer life." Unfortunately, it is long-winded, repetitive and laborious. It makes prayer far too complicated for this simple soul. Jesus taught us how to pray. His template is far, far better than this book.
